Case Study
Ft. Greene Townhouse
This townhouse was purchased by friends in the 1980s. Over the years, it had “lived” a lot—some rooms were updated (including one bathroom and the kitchen), but many beautiful period details remained intact. Despite its charm, the proximity of a bar right next door was a downside. However, its location made up for it: centrally situated in a vibrant, multicultural arts district, steps from public transportation and a rich array of restaurants.
Traditionally, townhouses feature a front stoop leading to a grand parlor entry—but in this case, the city had removed the stoop decades ago to widen the sidewalk. That left only the ground-floor service entrance, which lacked any sense of interior design drama or arrival experience.
To remedy this, we brought in bold, theatrical flair right from the threshold—part of our residential home staging strategy. We installed peel-and-stick wallpaper in the hallway and drenched the walls of the first ground-floor room in a rich, dramatic blue. The result was immediate impact: it transformed a purely functional entrance into a welcoming, statement-making arrival.
Next, our contractor painted every room with fresh, curated color palettes, swapped out every outdated light fixture, and replaced the worn stairwell carpet—part of our full-scope interior styling and property refresh service. These thoughtful, cohesive updates elevated the home from a tired layout to a beautifully staged space that felt branded, cohesive, and home-ready.
